Glorious St. Rose of Lima, patron of the Americas and the Indies, you who were the first flower of holiness in the New World, intercede for us.
You who lived in penance and prayer, obtain for us the grace to love God above all things and to offer our sufferings united to the Passion of Christ.
Protect the Americas and all your devotees. Teach us the path of holiness that you walked with such love. Amen.
Reflection
St. Rose of Lima was the first canonized saint of the Americas. She was born in Lima, Peru, in 1586. Her life of holiness showed that the New World could produce fruits of sanctity equal to Europe. She is the patron of the Americas, the Philippines, and the Indies.
