For protection against evil

Sign of the Cross

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Opening Prayer

Glorious St. Benedict, father of monks and master of the spiritual life, you who conquered the devil's temptations with the sign of the cross and prayer, protect us from all evil.

Your blessed medal is a shield against the forces of evil. Defend us from temptations, dangers, and the snares of the enemy. Obtain for us the grace to live in holiness, following your rule: ora et labora.

Intercede for us before God that we may persevere in good. Amen.

Reflection

St. Benedict was constantly attacked by the devil. On one occasion, the enemy presented him with the image of a beautiful woman to tempt him. Benedict threw himself into a thorny rosebush and conquered the temptation. The devil never dared to tempt him that way again.

Daily Prayer

St. Benedict, powerful against the devil, protect me from all spiritual evil. Defend me from the temptations and snares of the enemy. May your holy cross be my light and may the devil never be my guide. Amen.

Closing Prayer

St. Benedict, patriarch of monks, pray for us. St. Benedict, defender against evil, pray for us.

Crux sacra sit mihi lux (May the holy cross be my light) Non draco sit mihi dux (Let not the dragon be my guide)

Our Father

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Hail Mary

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Glory Be

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
