For protection from sudden death
Sign of the Cross
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
O God, who adorned Saint Barbara with the palm of martyrdom, grant through her intercession that we may receive the Sacraments before death and be protected from sudden and unprovided death.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son, who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
Meditation
Barbara was a young Christian who was imprisoned and martyred by her own father. Before her death, she received the Sacraments. For this reason, she is invoked against sudden, unprovided death.
Sudden death can come to anyone. We pray through Barbara's intercession that when our time comes, we may be prepared and receive the grace of the last Sacraments.
Prayer
St. Barbara, protectress against sudden death, preserve us from dying unprepared. Grant us the grace to live each day ready to meet the Lord.

Prayer to St. Barbara
O glorious St. Barbara, you were preserved from sudden and unprovided death and received the Sacraments before your martyrdom. Obtain for us the grace to receive the last Sacraments when our time comes.
Protect us from fire, lightning, and all sudden dangers. Help us to live each day prepared to meet our Lord.
Our Father
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
Hail Mary
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
Glory Be
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
St. Barbara, pray for us. Amen.
