Opening Prayer
O God, who each year gladden us with the feast of Saint Cecilia, grant that we may follow the example of her faith and purity, and use our talents to glorify You in song and in life.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son, who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
Meditation
Cecilia is the patroness of musicians because, according to tradition, she 'sang in her heart to the Lord' while instruments played at her wedding. Music has always been part of Christian worship.
Musicians and singers have a special calling to lead others in praise. They use their gifts to lift souls to God and to express the inexpressible beauty of the divine.

St. Cecilia, patroness of musicians, bless all who make music. Help them to use their gifts for the glory of God and the elevation of souls.

O glorious St. Cecilia, you sang to the Lord in your heart even while instruments played at your wedding. You remained faithful to Christ and converted your husband and brother to the faith.
