For Students

Sign of the Cross

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Opening Prayer

O God, who made St. Thomas Aquinas outstanding in his zeal for holiness and his study of sacred doctrine, grant us, we pray, that we may understand what he taught and imitate what he accomplished.

Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Meditation

St. Thomas Aquinas was a brilliant student from his youth. Though his family opposed his vocation and even imprisoned him, he remained dedicated to study and prayer. He became one of the greatest minds in history.

Yet he combined intellectual brilliance with deep humility. He said, 'The things that we love tell us what we are.' His love was for truth itself—which is God.

Prayer

St. Thomas Aquinas, patron of students, pray for all who are engaged in study. Help them to learn well, to think clearly, and to use their education for the glory of God.

Prayer to St. Thomas Aquinas

O Angelic Doctor, St. Thomas Aquinas, brilliant in your study and saintly in your life, you showed that faith and reason are not opposed but work together in the pursuit of truth.

Obtain for me the grace to love wisdom and to use my intellect for the glory of God. Help students in their studies, enlighten teachers in their instruction, and bring all who seek truth to the source of all truth.

Our Father

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Hail Mary

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Glory Be

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

St. Thomas Aquinas, pray for us. Amen.
